Okihiki
I came back yesterday from my second attendance to the Okihiki Festival*, in Ise and, taking into account that this event happens only twice every 20 years, who knows if it wasn’t the last…
Anyway, the locals certainly know how to enjoy the special occasion and totally ignored the ceasless pouring rain, having lots of fun while dragging the huge wooden logs through the city streets. I, on the other hand, enjoyed filming and taking pictures of them.
* Okihiki Festival (or dragging the wooden log) is a Japanese local festival “held in the spring over two consecutive years and involves people from surrounding towns dragging huge wooden logs through the streets of Ise to Naik? and Gek?.” The festival is held in the lead-up to the every 20 years rebuilding of the Ise-jing?, or the shrines at Naik? and Gekk?.
